Gemini: Salem Witches’ Halloween Ball
October 28
Hosted by modern-day Salem warlocks Christian Day and Brian Cain, the annual, Official Salem Witches’ Halloween Ball 2022 takes place Friday, October 28th at 7:30 pm at the historically haunted Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA.
This ball is designated a night of mystery, power, and magic. You may not consider yourself a true believer, but with the free psychic readings, seances, ceremonial dances, and rituals, you can allow yourself to indulge your inner mystic. Even if the seances don’t actually connect you with your loved ones in the beyond, it doesn’t hurt to take a moment to honor those who are no longer with us. Not to mention, witnessing the intimate rituals and magic teachings from Witchdoctor Utu and dancing to the Dragon Ritual Drummers will all still be a fun experience with your friends!
Whenever you need a dance break, DJ Addambombb will transform the Grand Ballroom into an epic dance party featuring a dazzling laser light show, and you could win up to $1,000 in the costume contest! This year’s theme is The Wild Hunt, honoring the pagan god Herne. In order to win, all costumes must fit the theme. Otherwise, wear your most spellbinding, witchy costume!
Beware, while delicious hors d’oeuvres are provided, the bar is cash only, so be sure you come prepared!
Libra: Endless Night New Orleans Vampire Ball
October 29
The Endless Night New Orleans Vampire Ball 2022 “Memento Immortalitas” is a self-described “Venetian Masquerade meets a Vampire Court, with the energy of a rock concert and the elegance of a Burlesque Cabaret.”
While similar events from the company take place from coast to coast in the US and in Paris, this highly anticipated main-stage gala takes over the entire House of Blues in New Orleans on October 29 from 10 pm to 4 am. Picture a Victorian-style vampire masquerade ball with rocking DJs, burlesque performances, and so much more!
This year’s theme is based on Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire, and while we know you will give nothing less than 100 % to your costume, Libra, you’ll be pleased to know this gala has a strict dress code consisting of three levels. If you don’t participate, you aren’t getting in. The bare minimum is a black suit or cocktail dress — although masques and fangs are highly encouraged. You can take it a step further by embracing your inner vampire goddess or a similar motif, or reach the highly-revered Upper Echelon level by arriving looking as though you’ve arrived straight from a Victorian-era Venetian carnival! The visuals must be magnificent!
You can even purchase an add-on for a Halloween High Tea & Tarot (to help cure your hangover with class and style) from 2 pm to 4 pm on October 30 or an add-on Boat Banquet diner cruise on October 29 (or both) with the purchase of your ticket, perfectly suited for any Libra.
Aquarius: NYC Village Halloween Parade
October 31
NYC’s 49th Annual Village Halloween Parade is always a spectacular event! This year, it takes place on Halloween, itself, starting at 7 pm. The route starts at Canal Street and runs all the way up 6th Avenue, ending at West 15th Street.
This year’s theme is one you can absolutely get behind — freedom! Specifically, it’s inspired by the Jon Batiste song of the same name. One of the best parts of the parade is that it’s open to anyone. All you have to do is show up at Canal Street and 6th Avenue — in costume — and be ready to march!
Fair warning, the parade usually has an extremely high turnout, so if you don’t want to wait in line for your chance to march, you can purchase a ticket ahead of time to secure your spot. Meet up with your best friends to dance through the streets of NYC as you follow the bands or floats pumping out some sick beats.
After the parade, there is an official after-party event at Webster Hall, or rather, “Webster Hell,” starting at 8 pm. It includes a costume contest where you could win $5,000! Secret scouts are scattered across the parade route seeking the best, most creative costumes, so you’ll want to bring your A game. Past winners have been dressed as a stove, the yellow brick road, and even a claw machine! The more unconventional and creative, the better — and let’s face it, no one does unconventional and creative quite like you! From the Village Halloween Parade’s mission statement: “This pageant evokes the muses.” You’ll be right at home!
