Cutest Summer 2022 Fashion Trends

This summer is set to be a scorcher.  In fact, I think we’re on track to have one of the hottest ones yet — and we aren’t just talking about the temperature!  😉

That’s right — 2022 is the summer of confidence

Everyone is ready to let loose, get a little wild, and free their sexy side this season — whether that means showing off a little extra skin or making bold, new outfit choices, we’ve got your back!  This summer we’re all about embracing our beautiful individuality and owning our bodies however we can.

No matter your size, shape, color, or height — summer 2022 is about celebrating all the things that make you, you!

Sheer and see-through

We’ve been cooped up for far too long, and this summer’s styles are all about showing off your skin and unleashing your inner goddess!  It’s all about body positivity and embracing your sex appeal.

These tops or dresses are typically made of mesh, cotton, or lace fabric (we don’t recommend man-made fabric in this heat) and can come in a simple, clean-cut style or with plenty of flounce and a trendy design like florals, polka-dots, or even butterflies.

A definite plus — they give you the opportunity to showcase your favorite bralette styles or — if you’re feeling especially audacious — you don’t have to wear anything underneath at all!  Florence Pugh set the stage for this trend with her fuchsia Valentino dress at the designer’s Couture show in Rome, proving you can be both tasteful and provocative.

Bring out the bralette

You don’t need a sheer layer to show off your favorite bralette.  This year, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear your underwear as outerwear.  The underwire bra’s little sister, the bralette is typically all style and all comfort.

While it is most popular to wear your bralette with a pantsuit or a sheer mesh top, you can take showing off your radiant skin one step further by pairing your bralette with your favorite skirt or shorts!  I mean, let’s be honest here — we’ve all seen tops and bralettes that show the same amount of skin, anyway, so who cares if they’re technically classified as “underwear”?  This season, we’re all about rethinking our assumptions.  Under a jacket, under a sweater, or just plain under the sun!

So, if you’re looking for an excuse to treat yourself with a shopping spree of some cute, new, frilly bralettes — this is it!

Peek-a-boo cutouts

If you aren’t used to revealing much skin — or are trying to find a way to be a little more subtle about it — the “peek-a-boo” trend is a great way to test the waters and make yourself more comfortable with showing off your body’s natural curves.

The “peek-a-boo” style involves using strategically placed cutouts — such as around the shoulders, waistline, midriff, or hips — so little sections of skin peek out.  Because of their placements, these cutouts work with your body’s natural shape and are universally flattering!  You just have to find the pieces that work best with your lines and curves.

Now, these cutouts can be as subtle or scandalous as you like, depending on your comfort level.  Feel free to experiment with where you prefer your cutouts and their size — reveal small sections around the side of your waist or choose a cutout that reveals the entire right side of your torso.  Also, try all the different color combinations you want to find new ways to make your skin pop!

Never wear anything that makes you truly uncomfortable, but I challenge you to try stepping out of your comfort zone.  Get that risqué top you’ve been eyeing that shows a little more midriff than you’re used to.  Embrace your body’s natural shape, and don’t be afraid to show it off a little!

Juicy, fruity colors

Bright colors have been hitting the fashion circuits for a while now, so the fact that bold berry tones are making a huge splash this summer shouldn’t come as a surprise.  Deep raspberry and hot pink strawberry are both flirty and fun, while the rich and royal blueberry and cerulean blue look works to keep you looking cool in the summer heat!

Berry colors aren’t the only fruity hues taking over the scene.  Lime green, tangerine, orange, and lemon-yellow are all huge this year.

You can rock them monochromatically or mix and match your favorite colors to create a bold new look.  This summer, we’re going all out loudly and proudly, so don’t be afraid to try new color combinations that you may not have necessarily felt brave enough to try before.  Like we said, it’s the summer of confidence,so don’t be afraid to get a little wild!

Shimmery white!

If you’ve tried bright colors and realized they really aren’t for you or you need a softer outfit to balance out all the bright, bold colors you’ve been wearing, then the all-white trend is the one for you!

This look is sharp, crisp, and clean — chic and sophisticated, yet at the same time there’s a light and airy ease with each ensemble.  It’s a great way to look extremely stylish and put together, yet comfortable and laid back.  Ooze that confidence!

White has been a summer staple since forever, as it reflects heat better than any other color.  Plus, wearing light and natural fabrics like cotton or linen are one of the best ways to stay cool in the blazing summer sun.

If the all-white look doesn’t have enough pizazz for you, then add a secondary color in your accessories.  For example, adding a thick, black belt to an all-white dress really makes the outfit pop!  Or, you could add a bright red necklace, bracelet, and lip color if you’re looking for something a little bolder, but still adhering to the clean-cut aesthetic.

Powerful pantsuits

Pantsuits have been easing their way back into the spotlight this year, but with wedding season in full-swing, summer is when we’re really seeing this trend take off!

Pantsuits are strong, powerful, and offer a great alternative to dresses for those of us who would rather wear pants to formal occasions.  Another plus is, with the ensemble practically complete upon purchase, they allow you to look professional and chic with minimal effort on your part!

Just make sure to opt for lighter fabrics and colors, and to beat the summer heat, try to stay away from black whenever possible.

Sequins and sparkles

It’s our hot-vax summer 2.0, and everyone is dressed to the nines!  Whether it’s a brunch date with your friends, a trip to the park, or even just a walk around your city, there’s no such thing as being too overdressed.

We may have been playing it low-key with the sequins before, but not this summer.  No, no!  We are going to look like fabulous, multi-colored disco balls as we enter the streets dressed head-to-toe in sparkles and shine!  I’m talking full-ensemble here, ladies!

If you don’t feel comfortable walking around looking like one of the Cullens caught in the afternoon sun, then challenge yourself by wearing one sequined or shimmery statement piece to start, like a sparkly bralette with your pantsuit.  It can be in a bright pink or purple, or it can be perfectly white.  Something that helps you connect to and reflect your unique, inner radiance out into the world.

Remember ladies, we are dazzling.  We are luminescent.  We are goddesses.

And don’t you ever forget it!

Y2K fashion

The runways may be trying to bring the low-rise jeans back, but I know I’m not the only one who’s against it!  That being said, there are plenty of other beloved Y2K trends making a nostalgic comeback that are set to hit you right in the feels, while making you look fantastic!

Crop tops, baby tees, microskirts, and miniskirts are all the rage!  The “mini” style from this era fits in perfectly with this summer’s motto — Show off what your mamma gave you!

Plus, we are seeing the long-anticipated return of butterfly everything.  Tops, jackets, pants, and shoes embroidered with these majestic, vibrant creatures are back and better than ever.  Even the iconic, colorful butterfly hair clips are making a comeback!

And we certainly can’t forget about the most important part of any ensemble:  the accessories!  Big, colorful sunglasses, chunky bracelets, scrunchies, and other kitsch accessories are all back!  So, if you’ve saved your favorite baguette bag from your middle or high school days, now’s the time to bust it back out again!
