Aries — Wednesday (or Morticia)/Pugsley (or Gomez)
Aries, you are the most open and straightforward of the zodiac. You aren’t one to repress how you’re feeling or hold anything back, and you’ve never really had a “dark” side, yourself. You are who you are — and you couldn’t hide that even if you wanted to.
When it comes to Halloween costumes, wouldn’t you love to have the opportunity to be someone completely different from yourself for a day? These odd, spooky, and dark Adams Family characters appeal to your sense of adventure — spend the day in a dark and brooding world you don’t usually go to! Aries, you know you are fascinated by the dark and brooding side of your Scorpio friends, and these characters offer an exciting opportunity for you to see for yourself what it’s like to live life on the dark side.
You also admire how these characters are always 100% unabashedly themselves — and because they represent the perfect balance between broody and humorous, you’ll have a lot of fun playing into all aspects of these extravagant characters.
Taurus — Bubbles/Professor X
As one of the resident homebodies of the zodiac, going out on Halloween isn’t at the top of your priority list. You’d much prefer a chill house party or a spooky movie night than an all-night rave. On the occasions you do dress up, you like to opt for costumes that are cute, comfy, and easy to put together. The adorable Bubbles and Professor X characters also invoke feelings of nostalgia and safety, helping you steel yourself for a night out.
Bubbles is a warm, friendly character in a simple baby blue dress and black belt. She’s a classic feel-good character, full of sweetness and smiles, who’s instantly recognizable to friends and family. Professor X, the peacemaker, is an advocate for mutant rights and promotes the co-existence of mutants and humans — an impressive bio, am I right? The Professor uses a wheelchair, but if you don’t use one, yourself, or have one you could borrow, you can dress up in your finest suit and park yourself in your favorite chair all evening.
Either way, both characters will have you feeling comfortable and content as you celebrate your Halloween festivities.
Gemini — Anna Delvey/Chase Sikorski
In case you haven’t already binged the Netflix docuseries Inventing Anna, Anna Delvey (aka Anna Sorokin) posed as a wealthy German heiress while living in New York City from 2013 to 2017. She infiltrated the highest, most glamorous levels of New York society and scammed banks, hotels, and socialites out of almost $300,000 dollars. Tech mogul and entrepreneur Chase Sikorski is Anna’s (ex)boyfriend on the show who, while charming and charismatic, mysteriously goes radio silent after the relationship ends.
It is rumored Chase’s character was inspired by Anna’s real-life boyfriend, Lee Soik, but it hasn’t been confirmed or denied by Anna or Soik himself — in fact, nothing has really been confirmed or denied by these notorious characters, which is partially what attracts so many people to their story.
These two are a win/win for you, Gemini — mystery and silliness. Anna has a very unique look and personality that any Gemini would have a lot of fun playing around with and exaggerating. Her thick, black-rimmed glasses and undefinable accent are instantly recognizable, and the air of mystery surrounding both Anna and Chase is equally enticing to any Gemini.
Cancer — Bridgerton Lady/Bridgerton Lord
Netflix’s Bridgerton is high up on the list of any Cancer’s favorite TV shows. The show is full of dynamic characters, epic love stories, and plenty of drama to satisfy the most passionate of Cancers. Being immersed in this made-up world allows you to release your inhibitions and be as loud or over-dramatic as your emotional soul desires, without the guilt of feeling like you’re being too much. You’re just embracing the character!
You could dress up as one of the characters themselves like Daphne Basset (née Bridgerton), Anthony, or Eloise Bridgerton or create your own iconic Regency-era style. These styles are elegant and dramatic — perfect to set your mood for the evening!
Plus, learning the dances from the show and having a dance party with your friends sporadically throughout the night is a must-do with this costume — as if you need an excuse to bust out your dance moves!
Leo — Scarlet Witch (Wanda)/Captain America
Leos are known for being loud, proud, and passionate. You are a natural-born leader who thrives when thrown into the spotlight, like both Scarlet Witch and Captain America. You love to be flashy and the center of attention, but your connection to these characters runs much deeper than that.
Like these characters, your inner strength is in the shadow of your outward appearance. While you aren’t always the best at publicly showing it, you have one of the biggest hearts of all, and you’d do anything — even destroy the universe as we know it — to protect your loved ones. You are the strong, proud protector of those whom you love.
Don’t be afraid. Dressing up as these beloved heroes offers you the opportunity to embrace that softer side of yourself, without having to show too much vulnerability.
Virgo — Cruella De Ville/Gaston
Virgo, it’s no secret you are a prisoner of perfection. As the queen or king of knit-picking, you can’t help but judge anyone or anything who doesn’t live up to your ideal standards. You need a costume that you can judge freely without everyone around judging you for being too hyper-critical.
Cruella and Gaston are characters who have already been picked to shreds by the public. You can make fun of these characters (and yourself) all evening long, and for once you’ll find everyone in agreement! You won’t have to worry about hurting someone’s feelings or stepping on anyone’s toes. No one with a sound moral compass is going to side with the narcissist or the woman who kills puppies for their fur.
You’re set for an easy, harmonious evening with your friends — so, you can just relax and have fun with it!
Libra — Barbie/Ken
Libra, you are an avid admirer of all things beauty, and a Halloween costume is no exception. You don’t view Halloween as a time to disguise yourself as someone else, but rather as an excuse to show off your creativity and let your real personality and style shine through!
Barbie and Ken offer the perfect opportunity to do just that. From flashy scarves or ascots to hot pink everything, it won’t be too difficult for you to create your dream costume. With so many different versions of the two to choose from, you’ll have no problem finding a variation you’ll have fun recreating.
Or, you can even create your own! Modern-day Barbies come in a variety of different shapes, sizes, skin tones, and styles in order to better reflect the diversity of modern America, so you can’t go wrong no matter what you choose.
Scorpio — Harley Quinn/The Joker
Halloween is your time to shine, my dear Scorpio. It’s the one time of year you go all out and allow yourself to completely get lost in the character you choose to dress up as.
Harley Quinn and The Joker are unpredictable and hard to read, but they are most enticing to you for their outwardly emotional personalities. You wish you could express yourself as freely as they do, without exposing yourself to the pains of heartbreak in the process.
Dressing as these unhinged villains gives you an opportunity to not only play into the dark side you’re comfortable with, but also release all that hidden emotion you never share with the world. You can scream, shriek, or laugh maniacally as loudly as you want, and no one will even bat an eye. It’s all a part of the act, and what’s most fun for you!
Sagittarius — Maleficent/Hades (from Disney’s Hercules)
Sagittarius, one thing you can always be counted on for is bringing a sense of carefree fun to any situation. You love being the comic relief, but when it comes to Halloween, you tend to opt for complex, villainous characters that you can have fun with.
While Maleficent and Hades are Disney villains, the general public doesn’t necessarily view them as the “bad guys.” Maleficent’s powerful backstory and Hades infectious, relatable sense of humor has made the two more popular than their respective heroes! Their costumes are fun to put together, and they have legendary personalities to boot. Have a blast with their over-the-top charisma and crazy characteristics.
You’ll be the life of the party and instantly recognizable, with plenty of opportunity to put your sarcasm and wise-cracking jokes to use all night long!
Capricorn — Black Widow/Iron Man
As the most dedicated, tenacious, and hard-working of the zodiac, the self-made hero trope has always appealed to you, Capricorn. You want to dress up as someone powerful, whom you greatly admire, and who has made an immense cultural impact, just as you hope to do someday.
Natasha Romanoff and Tony Stark didn’t have any supernatural powers, but they didn’t let that stop them. A fiery redhead, Romanoff underwent intense (and traumatic) physical training to master various fighting styles and covert operations, and aggressively worked to master them all. Stark, an engineer by trade, built himself a super suit through a lot of trial and error. Both these characters’ achievements are due to their own hard work.
These are very “Capricorn-y” characters! Through success brought on by hard work, they went on to inspire generations of young boys and girls, and proved that you don’t have to be a super to be a hero.
Aquarius — Carol Baskin/Joe Exotic
When it comes to Halloween costumes, Aquarius, you often opt for extreme, over-the-top looks that are guaranteed to amuse your friends and family. You don’t want to be taken too seriously, and you like to have fun with your choices.
With Exotic’s bleached-blond mullet, and Baskin’s flower crown and dressing head to toe in shimmery, neon animal prints, it’s hard to believe these outlandish characters are actual people. Their looks are certainly memorable, and you will be instantly recognizable. For Carol, you’ll need a cheap, animal print top — and maybe that flower candle wreath your mother has on her dining room table (for your head, of course). For Joe, you’ll need a tacky baseball cap and a man’s version of the same shirt Carol wears. If you can master their accents and carry a stuffed tiger around with you all night, you’ll be set.
Knowing you, you’ll probably opt for the character of the opposite gender for the most laughs, but that will just make your portrayal even more fun to play!
Pisces — Kiki (from Kiki’s Delivery Service)/Totoro (from My Neighbor Totoro)
Pisces, you strive to find a costume that’s as quirky and cute as you are, but you also need something that will be comfortable enough to wear all night long since you tend to jump between different friend groups and parties.
Kiki and Totoro are the definition of cute and quirky, and both have huge, kind hearts to match. Plus, their costumes are super simple and built for comfort! For Kiki, a big red bow and navy T-shirt dress is really all you need, but you can add a stuffed black cat or broom, too. When dressing as Totoro, you can opt for a comfy onesie with a floppy hood or a sweatshirt/sweatpants set resembling the character’s onesie — add an umbrella, or maybe you can find a stuffed catbus to complete your ensemble!
These characters offer you, Pisces, the best of both worlds — you’ll be comfortable and adorable all evening long. Enjoy!
