Los Angeles, California
Leos, with your enthusiastic attitude and sunny disposition, the city of angels is the perfect destination for you! After all, it is the place where the stars live, and what are you if not the shining star of the zodiac?
As for things to do, your options are endless! You could spend months here and still not experience everything this star-studded city has to offer. Live your best rom-com montage life by window-shopping along Rodeo Drive. Even if you can’t afford the designer prices, you can still browse the shops, soak in the culture (keep an eye out for your favorite star!), and stop for a bite at a local café.
Or, you can live out your movie star fantasies by traipsing down the Hollywood Walk of Fame or touring some of the biggest production studios in the US, like Paramount, Warner Bros, and more! And you certainly couldn’t miss out on taking the iconic Mt Hollywood trail in Griffith Park up to the historic Hollywood sign that offers a breathtaking view of the city.
If you still have time to spare, spend a day or two exploring Disneyland, where the latest Star Wars additions are a major draw to the traditional park. Or, if you’re looking for a little R&R, LA is also home to a wide variety of local beaches, like the well-known Santa Monica Beach and its famous pier, or the lesser-known Playa del Rey, which features volleyball courts, sections of raw, wild beach, and a perfect place for LAX plane spotting.
No matter what you desire, Leo, you’ll be sure to find something to love in this city — and plenty of photo-ops!
Arches National Park, Utah
Made up of over 2,000 natural stone arches and other unique rock formations, Arches National Park is your Leo playground! With plenty of hiking trails and rocks to climb, you’ll never be bored as you explore this beautiful desert landscape.
Some of the most popular attractions are gazing at the Landscape Arch and the Delicate Arch in Devil’s Garden, seeing the gravity-defying Balanced Rock, and hiking the Windows Trail to watch the sunset through the Turret Arch. The sunrises and sunsets here are unlike any other. The colors and textures of light bouncing off the rock are magnificent, like a real-life oil painting.
If you can, you’ve got to challenge yourself on the Fiery Furnace hike. This physically demanding, maze-like hike takes you through irregular, broken sandstone and loose sand, along narrow ledges, and can only be done with a ranger guiding you or an individual hiking permit for the ultra-experienced. The ranger-guided tour only costs $16 per person, but is in very high demand, so you’re going to want to book your spot well in advance!
Temperatures in this desert park can reach dangerously high levels in the summer, so you may want to consider planning your trip for some time in the fall or spring. Be sure to pack plenty of food and water for your journey, because there aren’t many places to purchase either of these in the park. Also, because of the popularity of the park, be sure to check the website to see if you need to make a timed-entry reservation to enter. Tickets run per vehicle, but it only costs $2 for a reservation fee in addition to the regular park entrance fee, which is good for up to seven days!
Buenos Aires, Argentina
My fun and festive Leos, you love nothing more than to be the life of the party, which is why this lively, vibrant capital of Argentina is the perfect non-stop party destination for you! Sitting on the shore of the Rio de la Plata, this cultural haven is more of a collection of distinct neighborhoods (all with their own unique personalities) than it is a sprawling downtown landscape, which gives you plenty of options to explore.
Palermo is one of the largest neighborhoods in the city. It’s home to a variety of eclectic restaurants and incredible nightlife. Plaza Serrano sits in the heart of Palermo and is known for its collection of themed restaurants and bars and its hipster vibe! During the summer, it also hosts a can’t-miss arts & crafts fair on the weekends where you can support the local artists and find some fantastic new art. If you visit in November, you could participate in the La Noche de los Museos (“Night of the Museums”), where the universities, museums and, generally, all art spaces offer free entrance until the early hours of the next morning!
Don’t forget that you’ll need something sweet to combat the South American heat, so be sure to swing by Lucciano’s Soho to score some of the best gelato in the city! They feature a variety of delicious flavors, and their ice pops — which come in a bunch of fun colors, shapes, and sizes — are to die for.
Afterwards, slip on your dancing shoes as you explore San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in the city and one of the best places to go for live music and tango venues. Buenos Aires, and especially San Telmo, is considered the birthplace of tango! If you head over to the Plaza Dorrego on a warm summer Sunday evening, you can watch professional couples dance to live music as the sun slowly fades away. If you’d like to learn the dance yourself, Mariposita de San Telmo is one of the best! It’s run from an old mansion and offers classes for those at all levels — no experience required!
If you’ve still got some time after exploring the different boroughs, why not hitch a ride over to Parque de la Costa, the largest amusement park (a whopping 35 acres) in Argentina, located about forty minutes outside the city. Filled with fun rides for the whole family, you can purchase a ticket with hotel pickup — no rental car required. It’s guaranteed to give you that adrenaline rush you’ve been craving — all the while exploring some place new!
