Aries: Focus on intrinsic motivations
My bold, powerful, and passionate Aries, it is your confident nature and fearlessness that have helped carry you and your loved ones through the dumpster fire that has been these past two years.
I know you want to start this year just how you’ve started all the ones before: strong!
One of your driving desires is to prove to everyone around you how strong and capable you are.
While spite can be a great motivating factor (and I’m sure it’s helped you reach some goals in the past) why not this year try to find a better, healthier motivation for propelling yourself forward. Pause for a second and consider what your life could be like if you didn’t spend so much energy trying to prove yourself to others.
Think of what you could accomplish when you do things simply because you want to, and not because you feel like you need to in order to prove a point.
If you’re having trouble sticking to your resolutions, try journaling about them and spending some time reflecting on why you’ve made these resolutions in the first place. If the answer isn’t based on your own personal growth, then maybe it’s time to re-evaluate them.
This year, instead of focusing on proving yourself to others, work on improving yourself.
Leo: Do it for the glory
Those who’ve said, “It’s all about the journey, not the destination” have clearly never met a Leo.
As opposed to Aries, who do things in spite of others, Leos you do things to prove to yourself that you can. Although you do care how the world perceives you, you are the center of your own universe. The only opinion of yourself that matters here is yours.
Whenever you’re lacking in motivation or don’t think you’ll be able to stay dedicated to the cause, think about the end result. Think about how great you’re going to feel once you reach your goal and get to bask in the glory of your own success at the end of the year.
Make a vision board, so you can visibly see all that you’re trying to accomplish. Hang it up in your bedroom or workspace, so you can be reminded everyday of all the things you want to achieve.
As much as you want to be treated like you’re the center of the universe, you want to have to earn it first.
I know it can be tough to keep your New Year’s resolutions, especially as the year is only getting started, but think about how satisfying it’ll be to look back twelve months from now and say, “I really did that!”
Sagittarius: Narrow down & prioritize your goals
As a sign full of enthusiasm and optimism, Sagittarius, you thrive during the first few weeks of January.
The new year provides you with the perfect excuse to dedicate yourself to self-improvement and picking up that new hobby (or twelve) that you’ve always wanted to delve into.
Yes, sometimes you can be a little too aspirational in your endless quest for knowledge and have a tendency to spread yourself too thin, Sagittarius.
That’s why it’s important for you to narrow down your goals so that you’ll actually give yourself a reasonable chance of achieving them — think minimalism in goal setting. If by January 22nd, you’ve already given up on half of your resolutions, then maybe it’s time to reprioritize and consolidate them.
Remember, your resolutions don’t have to be set in stone on the first of January. Modification is okay, especially if you started off with unrealistic expectations for yourself.
Take stock of what it is you truly want to accomplish this year. Be honest with yourself, and write a new list of attainable resolutions. I’d say keep it short and sweet (no more than five or six), but if you simply cannot help yourself, at least try to keep it under ten.
Set yourself up for success, because try as you might, not even you can master everything.
