Because it’s important to give yourself some love this Valentine’s season!
Aries: Compete in an arcade (or arcade bar)
While traditional arcades may have seen a decrease in popularity, plenty of modern bars and restaurants are embracing their nostalgic feel by incorporating old arcade machines or video games into their establishments to help you feel like a kid again.
You can allow your competitive nature to run wild against your greatest opponent, my energetic Aries — yourself! It can be cathartic to beat your own high score again and again, but try not to get so caught up in winning that you forget to have fun. And be sure to treat yourself to a large, salty pretzel or a spicy margarita at the end of the night!
We encourage you to find a local spot like Pins Mechanical Company (with locations throughout the Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast) or Area 53 in Brooklyn, NY, to spend your evening. But if all else fails, you can always hit up the closest Dave & Busters — one of the most common modern arcades for adults to enjoy, they have 151 locations across the US and have even expanded into Puerto Rico and Canada. If you’re looking to spend the evening in a kids-free zone, Dave & Busters has a strict policy that everyone under the age of 21 must be out of the building by 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays!
Leo: Attend a theater production
It may be a refreshing change of pace to watch someone else bask in the spotlight for once — eh, Leo? Or maybe you’ll get some bigger ideas…?
Treat yourself to a night of refined culture by taking a trip into the nearest city to see the latest show from Broadway (I’ve heard Into the Woods is about to start its nationwide tour) or hit up your community theater to support the local arts.
You can make a night of it by getting all dressed up and treating yourself to dinner beforehand. Or, grab a coffee and a sandwich from your favorite coffee shop before catching an afternoon matinee — especially if the prices are cheaper!
If there aren’t any theater productions playing, expand your horizons by attending the orchestra or your city’s ballet! These organizations are trying to appeal to younger audiences, so you may be able to snag cheap rush tickets or enroll in a special program for folks under the age of 30 or 35 that gives you access to discounted tickets.
Sagittarius: Take a class
Feel free to indulge your passions without any outside influence, my free-spirited Sagittarius. Take some time to hone a new skill or brush up on an old one you haven’t used in a while!
Learn how to whip up a batch of macarons to rival the finest French pastry chef’s, or embrace your inner badass by taking some kickboxing lessons. Allow your creative spirit to flow freely as you try “Painting with a Twist,” or learn how to create and design your own vases or coffee mugs in a pottery class.
Looking for something even more unique?
Why not try your hand at glassblowing or learn how to live off the land with a foraging class? Become the next Kate Bishop by taking an archery lesson or spend a relaxing afternoon learning how to sew your own dress — or designing it!
The world is your oyster, my dear Sagittarius — not that you’ve ever needed to be told twice to follow your heart’s desire!
